CPAC Celebratory Meeting and Annual Elections

Please join us Tuesday June 15th at 7:30 Commercial Park Advisory Council Meeting in the field house .

Open to the public and a great way to find out what is going on at the park.

This meeting is particularly special as it is time to bid  a fond farewell to Kate Mell and Dave Stumm, two very long-time supporters of the park, who are, sadly, moving away.  Kate and Dave were instrumental in starting the Commercial Park Advisory Council 10 years ago (going on 11) and have been crucial to the success of events like the Holiday Party,  Halloween Party and the  Garage Sale Fundraiser.  Together they have worked tirelessly to make Commercial Park and huge asset to the East Village neighborhood.  They will surely be missed.

We also have board nominations coming up in July with elections in August.  This year’s available positions are President, Treasurer and Publicist.  We will also be filling a newly vacant secretary position.  These positions hold a two-year term and anyone interested is urged to come Tuesday to get all the details.

Agenda items:
Thank you Kate & Dave and other outgoing board members
Board Nominations
Movie in the Park details
Kid Fest updates and info
Wine Tasting planning update
Follow-up details from the successful Beer Tasting at Small Bar
Reports on local playlots

Cold? Warm up with some Yoga tonight…

Join Commercial Park friends tonight as we welcome our new yoga instructor, Kristin.  Class will be every Thursday from 6:30-7:30.  A $5 donation helps keep this program strong.  You can also write a check for the donation and receive a letter for a tax donation.  Below is Kristin’s bio.  There is always space in the class so please join in.

Kristin has only words of love when it comes to yoga. At heart she is a writer and artist, she blends her passion for language and painting into class. With an avid dance and running background, Kristin provides a fun yet physically challenging practice to students. She focuses on alignment and philosophy, guiding students toward their greatest potential. After years of competitive ballet dancing, Kristin wandered into a yoga studio with no idea of what to expect. She discovered that yoga was more than a physical workout and that it appeared in aspects of her life off the mat. Yoga is different for every person; for Kristin it is a way to find stillness in the mind, a challenge for the body, and a way to focus on and appreciate the present. Kristin is originally from Racine, Wisconsin. She has a fourteen-year-old brother who is in her opinion, the coolest kid. She is grateful to be able to share her passion for yoga and asks that we all live life to the fullest. “The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore” -Vincent Van Gogh
