Art in the Park- Instructor needed!

Do you love the smell of Elmer’s glue? Have you already spent more than 3 hours today looking up kids’ Halloween crafts on Pinterest? Do you have a secret desire to be Bob Ross for the under 6 crowd? If so, do we have an opportunity for you! Our fabulous Art in the Park instructor has moved on to exciting new opportunities, and we are looking for someone to take her place. You would be in charge of planning and instructing art and craft projects for our weekly drop-in kids’ art class. Our Art in the Park class is aimed at kids 6 and younger (although all ages are welcome). The class is usually held on Wednesdays at Commercial Park from 4 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. CPAC will provide the art materials and a small stipend per class taught. CPAC general meeting, Monday, September 16th, 6:30 p.m.

CPAC will hold its next general meeting on Monday, September 16th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Commercial Park field house.  All are welcome- we will be finalizing plans for our Blocktoberfest and Save Slimy Kids Fest.  If you would like to get involved with CPAC, now is the time!

Mark your Calendar! Save Slimy and Blocktoberfest

Join us at Commercial Park on Saturday, September 28th from noon until 4 p.m. for our Save Slimy! Kids Fest and our annual Blocktoberfest!  Come enjoy food, drinks, crafts, games, and our bounce house.

Slimy the Snake, our park mascot, had a rough winter and is need of some love.  CPAC is in the process of raising funds for his repair.  The Save Slimy! Kids Fest will have a suggested donation of $10 per family and all proceeds will go towards saving Slimy!  Blocktoberfest is, as always, free- if you’d like to bring a dish to share with your neighbors, please do!Save Slimy

MARK YOUR CALENDARS/ VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Fall is fast approaching (I know, I know, perish the thought), but with the change in season comes three of the Commercial Park Advisory Council’s biggest events:
BLOCKOTOBERFEST and SAVE SLIMY FEST: Saturday, September 28th, 12 p.m. until 4 p.m.  Our annual CPAC block party will be joined this year by a fundraiser to help offset the cost of repairs to our beloved park mascot, Slimy the Snake.  (If you haven’t seen Slimy recently, he’s in pretty bad shape- seems he was on the receiving end of a baseball bat earlier this year and he’s been molting scales ever since.)  The Save Slimy Fest will feature snake- and slime-themed crafts and activities for kids, as well as our awesome bounce house.
HALLOWEEN: Saturday, October 26th, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Tricks, treats, balloon guy, parade- what else can you ask for?
HOLIDAY PARTY: Friday, December 13th, evening time TBA.  Our holiday party this year is all new!  Crafts, a holiday movie, caroling, hot chocolate and a bonfire.
But for all of these events to happen, we need volunteers.  If you’ve ever considered joining CPAC or helping out at an event, now is the time!  Please join us for our next monthly meeting on Monday, August 19th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Commercial Park field house, to volunteer for one (or several!) of our events.  If you can’t make the meeting, no worries- just email us at commercialparkinfo@gmail.com and we will get you set up.
And if you can’t volunteer, please support our local parks by attending and having fun.
